CHENNAI: Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner G Prakash on Thursday said Covid-19 patients and their contacts, who are on home quarantine, will be shifted to government’s Covid-19 care or institutional quarantine centres if they are found roaming on roads.
Stating that a few of such people were identified, he said, "We will be taking the help of the local police to observe their behaviour.
Such people will be tracked, and cases will be registered against them."
He added that 85% of people were following the rules, but there were 10%-15% who weren't.
Special Covid-19 officer at GCC J Radhakrishnan IAS highlighted the importance of wearing masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Prakash praised people in Tamil Nadu slum clearance board settlement in Kannagi Nagar. He said, "We found 95% of the people wearing masks when we went on a surprise visit. The place is highly populated, and situation could have gone out of control if they did not follow the rules.”
