CHENNAI:
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (
CMRL) was awarded the
National Project Excellence Award for the successful completion and commencement of passenger services in the 45km phase-1 project.
The award was given at the PMA-India summit held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
CMRL was chosen for the award for implementing the project after facing several challenges during the construction phase, introducing many engineering innovations and practices and ensuring public safety.
Arvind Kumar Rai, chief general manager (underground), received the award on behalf of CMRL.
The first stretch of the 45km phase-1 between Koyambedu and
Alandur was thrown open on June 29, 2015 and the last leg between Washermenpet and AG-DMS was inaugurated in February 2019.
