Drunk youth rams car into three vehicles, injures one

Police arrested a 28-year-old man, who damaged three cars and injured a pedestrian while driving drunk near Ayanavaram on Sunday night.

CHENNAI: Police arrested a 28-year-old man, who damaged three cars and injured a pedestrian while driving drunk near Ayanavaram on Sunday night.
Police said Karthikeyan, a native of Thiruvannamalai, was staying in Nolambur and worked as a manager in a leading automobile company. Around 8.30pm on Saturday night, Karthikeyan was driving from Ayanavaram towards ICF while drunk.
On the way, he damaged side mirrors of three cars consecutively and knocked down a 25-year-old woman, who was walking on the road. Passersby, who noticed this, thrashed Karthikeyan and admitted injured Thilagam to a private hospital.
Police said the victims did not lodge a complaint against Karthikeyan as he compensated for the damages and paid for the woman's treatment. Police booked him for drunk driving under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act and released him on bail.
