CHENNAI: Noting that there is no right under any law to claim equal allocation of funds for district mineral foundation trusts on assembly constituency basis, the Madras high court has dismissed a PIL moved by an MLA.
A division bench of Justices S Manikumar and Subramonium Prasad passed the order while refusing to entertain the plea moved by V Ganesan, a legislator representing Thittakudi constituency.

Ganesan wanted the court to direct the Cuddalore District Mineral Foundation Trust to allocate adequate funds to mining-affected areas in his constituency on par with other constituencies in the district from and out of the trust fund.
The owners of the mines in the constituency are depositing certain amount to the district foundation for the welfare and development of the persons and areas affected by the mining activities. But the foundation did not allot the amount to deserved areas in his constituenc, the petitioner said.
