A 30-year-old man from Kanyakumari died and his wife, daughter and the wife of his friend were battling for life after they consumed poison in a lodge at Triplicane here on Sunday night.

CHENNAI: A 30-year-old man from Kanyakumari died and his wife, daughter and the wife of his friend were battling for life after they consumed poison in a lodge at Triplicane here on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Jagan Franklin, who came to the city on June 7 with his family and family friend.
His wife Puneetha Rani,29, daughter Jessibi,6, and family friend Saranya,21 were undergoing treatment in government hospitals here, police said.
While Puneetha and Saranya was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Jessibi was undergoing treatment in the Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, Egmore, they said.
Jagan had finished a course in hotel management and wanted to get a job here. Saranya was his friend Ramesh’s wife. She also came hoping to get a job here.
On Sunday night, Jagan met a local politician and sought help to find a job.
The politician came to meet him on Monday morning. The door was locked. The politician and the lodge staff opened the door and found the four of them in an unconscious state. They rushed them to hospital.
The Triplicane police registered a case and began to investigations.
