CHENNAI: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday termed the developments in Karnataka, where BJP’s B S Yeddyurappa had to resign from the post of chief minister without facing a floor test, as a victory for democracy.
"It was not proper on the part of the governor in giving 15 days to the ruling party to prove majority. Hats off to the Supreme Court for its intervention. My pranams to it," said Rajinikanth.

Rajinikanth was talking to reporters outside his home here after a meeting with the women's wing of the Rajini Makkal Mandram.
"The Karnataka government, whichever party comes to power, should implement the Supreme Court orders on the Cauvery water in its full letter and spirit. Let us not get into the technicalities of whether it is going to be an authority or a board. The court has given a clear ruling," he said.
Rajinikanth said there was tremendous support among women for his political entry. "Wherever there are women, the victory will be there," he said. However, Rajinikanth declined to comment on whether his party would strike an alliance with Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam.
"When I am yet to launch my political party, no purpose will be served in talking about prospective alliances," he said.
The meeting with the women's wing of the Rajini Makkal Mandram followed that with the mandram's district secretaries and the youth wing over the past two weeks.
