THANJAVUR: A 75-year-old man was beaten to death by two
youths near
Kumbakonam in
Tamil Nadu on Sunday night when he questioned them for disturbing his granddaughter by making calls to her mobile number frequently.
The murdered man has been identified as S Rathinam of Gandhi Nagar in Innambur village.
Rathinam’s granddaughter had complained to him that two youths in their area had been harassing her by calling her on her mobile number.
Around 9pm on Sunday, Rathinam and his granddaughter were alone at home while his son, R Ramachandran, was away.
The woman received a call from the same number, and she alerted her grandfather. Rathinam came out of the house and saw the two youths -- identified as 'Kattai' alias Prakash, 25, and Prakash, 25, -- standing near his house.
When Rathinam warned the youths, the duo pushed him down and beat him up. The man sustained severe injuries on his head.
Hearing cries of the man, neighbours rushed to the spot and took him to Government Hospital in Kumbakonam. However, doctors declared him brought dead.
Based on a complaint lodged by Ramachandran, the
