An assistant professor at Tamil University in Thanjavur has been placed under suspension for indulging in malpractices.

TRICHY: An assistant professor at Tamil University in Thanjavur has been placed under suspension for indulging in malpractices.
R Muthaiyan, 54, who is an assistant professor in the department of education and management, has been accused of demanding bribe from students when he was an exam supervisor. Muthaiyan told them that he would let them indulge in exam malpractices if they paid him money.
The university had received complaints against Muthaiyan, based on which a probe was ordered.

The probe found prima facie evidence against him, and vice-chancellor G Balasubramanian passed the suspension order on Tuesday.
