DEHRADUN: Pranjal Aggarwal, 17, topped the JEE (advanced) exams in Dehradun by securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 143.
An alumnus of Brightlands School in Dehradun, Aggarwal had cleared his 12th boards with 97.75% marks. He took his coaching from Akash Institute. Speaking to TOI, Aggarwal said, “This feat wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family, who stood by me.
I was motivated to join IIT after my brother cleared the JEE in 2014.”
Aggarwal’s father, Shiv Prasad Aggarwal, who is an ISRO scientist, said Pranjal had always been interested in Science, especially computer programming. “He has been interested in computers since a very young age. He scored the 303rd rank at the Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) and also developed an android app in 2017,” he said.
While Aggarwal’s mother is a home maker, his brother is pursuing M.Tech from a university in the US.
