Two die after truck hits bike in Dehradun

Two persons died after their bike was hit by a truck on Dehradun-Haridwar highway in Lal Tappar, Dehradun. Sushila Devi (56) and Jeevan Lal (20) were rushed to the Himalayan Hospital in Jolly Grant by passers-by but doctors declared them dead on arrival

DEHRADUN: Two persons died after their bike was hit by a truck on Dehradun-Haridwar highway in Lal Tappar, Dehradun. Sushila Devi (56) and Jeevan Lal (20) were rushed to the Himalayan Hospital in Jolly Grant by passers-by but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The truck driver is absconding but the truck has been seized. The truck owner has been summoned to Lal Tappar police station.
Lal hails from Bareilly district and was working as a daily-wage labour in Dehradun. Devi, who lived with her family in Majri Gaon, was his landlady.
Ram Naresh Sharma, sub inspector (in-charge) of Lal Tappar police station said, “The accident took place between 5 and 5:30 in the morning. The driver fled, but we have seized the truck. Our team is searching for him and in the meantime, has asked the truck owner to report at our police station.”
