DEHRADUN: Four new cases of dengue were confirmed in Dehradun by the health department on Saturday. The city has recorded 17 cases of dengue in the last 22 days.
Talking to TOI, Dr SK Gupta, chief medical officer (CMO) Dehradun said that the four cases were reported in the city on Saturday and that all the affected patients are males.
“The confirmation of dengue patients came after the results of Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) tests proved to be positive.
We are tracking the patients from their arrival to the time they are totally cured,” he said.
In Dehradun district, dengue reports have come in from Nehru Colony, Rispana Nagar, Adhoiwala, Chandan Nagar and Rishikesh. Out of the 17 cases reported in Dehradun till now, 11 are males and six females. The health department said that four of the cases were from outside the city.
Dengue cases tend to escalate in August and September. To avoid its outbreak, the health department has formed a task force at the district level to reduce dengue cases and bring down the fatality rate.
“We have asked the civic body to do away with sources of stagnant water. The sanitation staff has been directed to frequently spray insecticides and carry out fogging,” added the CMO.
