BJP worker killed in road accident
Roorkee: A district official of other backward class (OBC) cell of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) was killed in a road accident on Tuesday when his two-wheeler was ran over by a speedy truck on Roorkee-Haridwar national highway.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Dharmendra Giri from Brahampur village. "He was hardly half-a-kilometer away from his village when the incident happened.
He was allegedly trying to avoid a pothole on the road when his scooty skidded and an unidentified truck ran over him," said Adesh Saini, a senior official of BJP. The truck driver managed to flee from the spot.
A case has been registered against an unidentified truck driver on Tuesday under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
