DEHRADUN: With the urban local body polls hitting the last leg, campaigning across the state has intensified. With a lot at stake for chief minister
Trivendra Singh Rawat, he has himself taken the responsibility to head the
poll campaign for the ruling party.
In the last two days, the CM has campaigned for party’s mayoral candidates in Haridwar, Kotdwar, Rishikesh and Dehradun. Besides, he has held an extensive campaign in his own assembly constituency of Doiwala.
Following which, he held a string of meetings at Gopeshwar, Uttarkashi, Mussoorie, Vikas Nagar and Dehradun on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the CM is expected to hold key meetings and interactions at Almora, Pithoragarh, Haldwani and Nainital and on the next day, he will visit Rudrapur and Kashipur. Thereafter, he is scheduled to hold meetings in Pauri, Tehri and Dehradun districts.
The CM’s efforts does not come as a surprise as in the past there have been instances of some senior party members speaking against him and the government. Prior to the
Lok Sabha polls, the civic election is being seen as a litmus test for the CM.
Devendra Bhasin, the media in-charge for the BJP, said, “CM is a powerful leader and his mere presence boosts the BJP’s chances. He also interacts with the people asks for feedback.”
