Cold wave conditions to continue in Uttarakhand
DEHRADUN: The on-going cold wave conditions across Uttarakhand are going to continue for at least another couple of days with mercury hovering below normal limits in both hills and plains in the hilly state.
Matela in Almora district remained the coldest place in Uttarakhand after recording a minimum temperature at minus 3.5 degree Celsius, according to regional meteorological centre.

Mukteshwar in Nainital recorded the temperature at 0.9 degree Celsius at night, while Tehri was freezing at 2 degree Celsius.
Even plains are reeling under severe cold conditions with Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar district witnessing a minimum temperature of 1.5 degree Celsius. Dehradun too witnessing cold nights as minimum temperature dropped to 4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
“Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in some parts of plains especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand during the next 72 hours from Wednesday morning onwards,” said Bikram Singh, director of regional meteorological centre.
Besides low temperatures, the plains of Uttarakhand are witnessing foggy conditions during early morning and night hours, adding to the woes of the people living in these areas.
Meanwhile, Met officials told TOI that places at high altitudes, like Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh district are likely to receive light snowfall in the next few days.
