Congress counts BJP’s failures in manifesto
The party's four page vision document was released on Monday
DEHRADUN: From demonetisation to Goods and Services Tax (GST), Congress has included ‘BJP’s failures’ in its manifesto for the upcoming civic body polls in the state. The party’s four-page vision document, released on Monday, also promised opening of cow shelter homes, beautification of the city and providing relief from encroachments.
While sharing the Grand Old Party’s ideology, the Congress maintained that BJP’s various policies such as demonetisation and GST have adversely affected the lives of the people.
Congress also questioned the delay in holding civic body polls in the state. The document also criticised the BJP government for increasing petrol and LPG prices.
Congress state president Pritam Singh on Monday released the manifesto and talked about the various things that the party is planning to do in Uttarakhand if voted to power. Those include construction of cow shelters and controlling monkey and dog menace among others.
The party representatives said that they also want to construct parks and install CCTV cameras on the roads for the safety of women and children. Singh said, “The vision document also includes installing traffic lights at busy crossings, reduction in house and commercial tax along with ensuring better solid waste management across various civic constituencies in the state. We will also carry out public audits of all the schemes to ensure transparency in the various projects. The party will also work to improve the drainage system in every locality of the state.”
Singh added that the Congress will also ensure that all slum dwellers get proper rehabilitation and land ownership rights in accordance to law.
