‘Do you have any schemes for rehabilitation of transgenders?’

NAINITAL: The Uttarakhand high court on Tuesday asked the state government whether any scheme or policy has been formulated for rehabilitation of transgenders in Uttarakhand.
The division bench of acting chief justice Rajiv Sharma and justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari said, “The transgenders also have a fundamental right to live with dignity directed the state government. Accordingly, we direct the state government to inform this court whether any scheme/policy has been formulated for the rehabilitation of transgenders in the state, on or before the next date of listing.”
The next hearing in the matter is on October 3, 2018.The court was hearing a petition filed by Dehradun-based transgender Rajni Rawat on Monday.
The petitioner had alleged threat to her life from people posing as imposters.
