DEHRADUN: The redevelopment of Doon railway station is set to start soon as the
MussoorieDehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and railway officials are slated to meet on Sunday to review the concept. The work is expected to start after the plan is assessed by both the MDDA and railways.
Sources said that the meeting will be attended by
Ashish Kumar Srivastava, vice-chairman of MDDA, and general manager of Northern Railways TP Singh.
The MDDA had entered into an agreement with the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) in October last year to develop the almost a century old station in October last year.
Once redeveloped, the modernised railway station will have enhanced facilities for railway passengers such as dedicated departure/arrival concourse, air concourse, dedicated drop/pick up zones, pedestrian
plaza, promenade, and revamped Mussoorie bus stand among others.
RLDA vice-chairman Ved Parkash Dudeja said, “Dehradun is known for its colonial-era heritage structures and the city railway station is a good example of it. The RLDA is keen on the development of the area while preserving the original structure.”
