DEHRADUN: The
Dehradun railway station remained
closed for five hours on Sunday for the
construction work of an underpass at the Ajabpur railway crossing in Doon. The construction caused delay in five trains including the Shatabdi and Nanda Devi Express, both of which ply between Delhi and
Dehradun stations.
“An underpass was being constructed because of which five trains were delayed on Sunday. The work was carried between 8:30 am till 1:30 pm, during which the tracks were closed.
However, the work is now complete and the trains now are running on their usual time,” assistant engineer Praveen Saxena told TOI on Sunday evening.
The closure, however, took passengers by surprise. Many of whom said they were not informed by the railways regarding the same. “The railways claim to have informed the passengers beforehand about maintenance work but despite having tickets, we did not get any mail or text informing us about the delay in trains,” said a passenger.
