RUDRAPUR: With four new industries purchasing land at Sitraganj industrial estate in Udham Singh Nagar, at least 500 people are expected to get employment in the area once the firms start operating.
The industries have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the ELDECO SIDCUL industrial Park Ltd and will begin production in 2020.
Sandeep Chawla, deputy general manager (DGM) of ELDECO Sitraganj said, “These industries have signed MoUs and are contemplating an investment of more than Rs 50 crore.
They may buy more land to scale up their business. The industrial units are expected to be operational by mid 2020 and will generate employment for more than 500 people. A local industrialist also plans to open a dairy plant here. ‘Jai Hare Jai Krishna milk foods’ will be producing milk, ghee, butter and lassi and will start operating by November 2020.”
According to Chawla, Norma Overseas Private Limited from Haryana had purchased 4000 sq. m. land and will be manufacturing auto components and inter-locking tiles at its unit in US Nagar, expected to be fully functional by June 2020. Similarly, KC Green Revolution Private Limited has bought 4100 sq. m. land and plans to manufacture plastic dustbins. Ganpati Packaging has purchased a 2000 sq. m. plot, while Kumaon packaging industries has bought four acres of land. Both firms will produce corrugated boxes.
In 2005, 1,093 acre of land from Sampoornanand Open Jail in Sitarganj was transferred to ELDECO state industrial development corporation of Uttarakhand Limited and an industrial zone was developed in the area. Eventually, 450 acres of land was occupied by 120 different industrial units, which are now manufacturing different commodities here. After the Investors' Summit held in Dehradun last year, several industries had applied to set up manufacturing plants here.
