Man held for murdering wife’s paramour in Dehradun

DEHRADUN: Dehradun police on Wednesday arrested a 29-year-old man on charges of stabbing another man to death late on Tuesday. Police said that the accused suspected that his wife was having an affair with the victim.
The accused identified as Jitendra Murti was arrested from near a hotel on Sahastradhara road while he was trying to escape from the city. The victim, Sachin, succumbed to injuries at a city hospital.
“We arrested Jitendra in connection with the murder and he confessed to the crime.
He said that he stabbed Sachin near his house in Rajpur area and threw the knife in the bushes near Kaath Bangla area. We have registered a case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code,” said inspector Arvind Kumar, in charge of Rajpur police station.
Jitendra, who is a taxi driver, told police that his wife was not living with him for over a month and he suspected that she was having an affair with Sachin, who works as a waiter.
On information provided by Jitendra, police also recovered the murder weapon, the inspector added.
