Patanjali’s Balkrishna in AIIMS Rishikesh, food poisoning suspected

HARIDWAR: Acharya Balkrishna, close aide of Yoga guru Ramdev, was hospitalized in AIIMS Rishikesh after he complained of suspected food poisoning symptoms on Friday afternoon.
According to sources, he ate a piece of sweet brought by someone and began to feel unwell soon afterwards. Later, he was admitted to a local hospital in an unconscious state and was treated there for an hour and a half before being rushed to AIIMS Rishikesh.
He is said to be out of danger.
Rajendra Sharma, spokesperson of Swami Bhuma Niketan Hospital in Haridwar’s Ranipur, told TOI, “Acharya Balkrishna was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious state and our doctors treated him after which he became stable. But he was not feeling well. He was referred by the doctors to AIIMS Rishikesh. He was feeling pain in his trachea and abdomen.”
Meanwhile, Patanjali Yogpeeth spokesperson SK Tijarawala claimed that he had symptoms of suspected food poisoning and he is out of danger now. He said that Balkrishna, accompanied by Ramdev, was taken to AIIMS Rishikesh after he suffered suspected food poisoning. He is out of danger now, he added.
Later, AIIMS Rishikesh released a medical bulletin, mentioning that reports of his vital organs are normal and he was shifted to the intensive care unit for further examination.
Medical superintendent of AIIMS Rishikesh Dr Brahmprakash said, “He was brought to AIIMS in an altered conscious state and we conducted all tests to check his vital organs which are in normal limits. We have shifted him to the intensive care unit under the supervision of a team of doctors.”
Doctors at AIIMS Rishikesh said Balkrishna is fine now and may be discharged in a day or two. A sample of the sweet he ate has been sent for forensic examination to Delhi.
