PWD engineer killed after car falls into river in Pauri

DEHRADUN: A 32-year-old junior engineer (JE) of Public Works Department (PWD) was killed after the car he was driving plunged into Nyar river in Baijro area of Pauri district late on Thursday. The accident came to light on Friday when residents spotted a car in the river and informed revenue police personnel, who then contacted Thalisain police.
Patwari Arvind Singh Rawat reached Syusi village with his team and launched a search operation.
“The body was recovered about 2 km downstream from the border of Nagaon village,” police said. The deceased has been identified as Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Bahadarabad in Haridwar district, who was posted as Junior Engineer (JE) in Baijro PWD office.
According to officials, the accident took place near Panchpuri motor bridge late on Thursday when Kumar was returning to his home after having dinner at Baijro market.
As the incident occurred in revenue area, the body was taken into custody by revenue police and the family of the victim has been informed.
