NAINITAL:
Uttarakhand high court on Monday ordered senior police officer Sanjay Gunjyal, who is heading the SIT probe into the
scholarship scam, to submit the action taken report in court by next Monday.
The bench — comprising Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Ramesh Chandra Khulbe — also asked the state government to submit its response in the case till October 23 after one of the petitioners pointed that even the wards of IAS and PCS officers and bank managers availed the benefits of scholarships.
“We pointed out that even the children of bureaucrats and other government officials availed the benefits of the scheme when it was clearly meant for the wards of the people who earn less than Rs 2,500 per month. The court observed that these are serious allegations of power misuse,” said MC Pant, one of the petitioners in the case.
