Uttarakhand rains: Schools in Dehradun, 8 other districts closed today
Rescue operations underway in Uttarkashi's Mori tehsil following cloudburst in the area.
DEHRADUN: Government and private schools in nine districts of the state, including Dehradun and Haridwar, will remain closed on Monday, as the regional meteorological centre issued an orange alert for the state.
District administrations of Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Pauri Garhwal, Chamoli, Champawat, Nainital, Almora, Haridwar and Pithoragarh have declared that schools will remain closed due to prediction of heavy rainfall.

Dehradun district magistrate C Ravishankar said, “We have declared the holiday after looking at the alerts and predictions of the meteorological department. We can’t risk the lives of students.”
District magistrates of other districts also had the same concern. “Education officers will ensure that no school or anganbari centre opens on Monday. Administration officials must be on alert and ready to tackle any situation,” said Haridwar DM Deependra Chaudhary.
