DEHRADUN: Dehradun police late on Saturday arrested the Kashmiri student of Sridev Suman Subharti University who was booked for allegedly celebrating the attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama district of Kashmir.
Identified as Kaisar Rashi, a first year student of diploma in paramedical, made references to online battle game PUBG while describing the attack in which more than 40 CRPF personnel died and said he would celebrate the night with chicken dinner in a WhatsApp group.

According to official statement released by Dehradun police, Rashi has been booked after a complaint was filed by a Premnagar resident Rakesh Bhatia.
However, BJP MLA from Rudrapur, Rajkumar Thukral, who was in the capital for assembly session claimed that he had filed a written complaint with the police, calling the messages anti-national on Friday.
Speaking to TOI, Thukral said that the student’s messages have deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of the country and it amounts to sedition. “As soon as I heard of the messages, I filed a written complaint. These messages deeply hurt the sentiments of the locals and are nothing short of sedition,” Thukral said.
Dehradun SSP Nivedita Kukreti said that an FIR under section 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) has been filed against the student.
The student has already been suspended and university director Atul Krishna confirmed this to TOI as well. “We are conducting an investigation and till the time the investigation is on, he has been ordered not to enter the campus,” he said.
