DEHRADUN: Two friends were killed after the scooter they were riding fell into a deep gorge in Kalsi block in Dehradun district on Monday morning. The duo were on their way home after attending Maroj festival in Jaunsar Bawar region.
The deceased, identified as Vikram (16) and Jaideep (14), both natives of Gadeta village, had gone to their relatives in Maletha to celebrate the festival on Sunday.
The accident occurred on Maletha-Badanu motor road when both were returning home.
Local residents from Maletha and Badanu village launched rescue operations.
“Prima facie, it appears that the person who was riding the bike lost control on a sharp turn. The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into the gorge,” said a revenue police officer.
The bodies were handed to family members.
