U’khand defeats Meghalaya by 120 runs
Dehradun: Uttarakhand won its fourth game of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy defeating Meghalaya by 120 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Karanveer Kaushal, who scored 103 runs, became the star of the match. His innings helped Uttarakhand put up 294 runs on the scoreboard. Speaking exclusively to TOI, Karanveer Kaushal said, “I had a great 151-run partnership with Tanmay Srivastava.
His experience helped me a lot in getting runs. As the match progressed, the pitch started deteriorating, so it became difficult for a new batsman to score runs.”
When asked about the team’s chances of getting into the quarter-finals, Kaushal said, “We are just focusing on our remaining games and we will try to win them all. We are trying to take control of whatever is in our hands.”
Uttarakhand's next game is against Sikkim on Sunday at the Kasiga School Cricket Ground.
In the second match of the day, Nagaland defeated Sikkim by 4 wickets at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy. Sikkim was bundled out for a mere 138 runs thanks to Imliwati Lemtur and Shrikant Mundhe who took 3 wickets each. Nagaland achieved the target with 13 overs to spare.
Meanwhile, in the last match of the day, Arunachal Pradesh defeated Manipur by 82 runs at the Tanush Cricket Ground.
The star of the match was Arunachal Pradesh batsman Rahul Dalal who scored 84 runs off just 79 deliveries.
