DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) bus services that were partially hit due to elections will resume fully from Tuesday. Around 300 buses of the UTC were deployed in elections resulting in suspension of services from some stations.
According to the UTC, 200 buses were sent back on Saturday and the rest are expected to arrive by Sunday.
Deepak Jain, general manager of Uttarakhand Roadways Corporation, said that the bus services would resume fully from Tuesday onwards.

The bus services were mainly hit on routes like Dehradun-Kathian, Dehradun-Lansdowne, Dehradun-Bhorgaon, Dehradun-Pauri, Dehradun-Kairar, Dehradun-Devalkot-Hapla-Pokhri, Dehradun-Hanol and Dehradun-Mussoorie. The number of buses on the Dehradun-New Delhi route were also reduced.
The procured buses were used to ferry booth level officers, poll officers and polling parties to various polling stations in the hills and nearby areas. Some UTC buses were also used by the paramilitary forces and administrative staff deployed for election duty. These buses were off the road since April 5. Sources said that the organisation had recorded estimated losses of Rs 60 lakh per day because of the buses being not put to commercial use.
