RUDRAPUR: The body of
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan,
Chandrika Prasad, who was martyred when Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists attacked a newly-set up camp in
Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Sunday evening, will be arriving in Udham Singh Nagar on Tuesday.
Prasad, 50, was a resident of Khiladiya village in Khatima. Prasad's body will be flown from the CRPF centre to New Delhi and then to
Khatima by road, said superintendent of police Devendra Peencha.
The jawan's father, Brij Nandan Prasad, said, "I am proud that my son sacrificed his life for his country. But as a father I'm sad."
Prasad’s body will be flown from the CRPF centre to New Delhi and then to Khatima by road, told Superintendent of police, Devendra Peencha. "I have reached Prasad's ancestral place and met his kin. His mortal remains will be consigned to flames tomorrow and we will be paying homage to the martyred soldier", said Peencha.
The paramilitary trooper was killed on Sunday when militants attacked the camp near Kakpora railway station in South Kashmir. Militants opened indiscriminate firing on CRPF camp, injuring another jawan. Head constable Chandrika Prasad, a head constable of 183 of D coy, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to death. The camp had been set up recently with a view to enhancing security in this militancy-infested district due to the ongoing Panchayat elections. Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack.
