Uttarakhand defeat Sikkim by 253 runs
Dehradun: Uttarakhand registered a big victory against Sikkim at the Kasiga School Cricket Ground in the ongoing Vijay Hazare tournament on Sunday. The Sikkim team was thrashed by a record margin of 253 runs, thanks to the excellent spells by Uttarakhand’s bowling battery who bundled out Sikkim’s batsmen for just 52 runs. The star of the match was Uttarakhand’s pacer Sunny Rana who secured a five-wicket haul.

Speaking to TOI, Sunny Rana said, “To take five wickets in a match is every bowler’s dream and I am extremely happy to achieve it. The credit goes to my coaches who have worked hard on my bowling. The wicket had a bit of assistance for the pacers and I just kept on bowling at the stumps which ultimately rewarded me. The rest of our bowlers also maintained pressure from the other end which ultimately helped us in restricting Sikkim to a very low total.”
Previously, Uttarakhand had posted 305 in their innings with four Uttarakhand batsmen posting half-centuries. Uttarakhand’s last league game is against Chandigarh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Uttarakhand’s last game will be crucial as the result of that game will decide whether they will qualify for the quarter-finals or not.
In the second match of the day, Assam defeated Arunachal Pradesh by 10 wickets with 213 balls to spare at the Tanush Cricket Academy. The star of the match was Assam’s Riyan Parag who took 4 wickets with his leg-breaks.
In the last match of the day, Manipur defeated Mizoram by 9 runs in a low-scoring thriller at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy Ground. Mizoram was left heartbroken as after the completion of 50 overs, they fell short of just 9 runs. Their score was 161/8.
