NEW DELHI: A week before his sister was to get married, a 17-year-old was shot dead by a teenager in northwest Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy on Thursday. The victim, Vishal Mishra, had stepped out to meet a friend, but never returned. His body was found at night. A juvenile was apprehended on Friday night for being involved in the murder.
Vishal’s father, Ravindra, told police that he had gone to distribute cards for his daughter’s wedding when he got a call from a relative asking him to rush back home as Vishal had been shot.
The family borrowed a car from a neighbour and rushed the teen to BJYRM hospital where he was declared dead.
Family members said Vishal had dropped out of school to help his parents at work. On Thursday night, he got a call from a friend to meet him at a park nearby. He met the accused teenager there and got into an argument with him. The accused then shot him in the head with a pistol.
DCP (outer-north) Gaurav Sharma said that a case under IPC Section 302 (murder) has been registered. A police team scanned CCTV footage of the area and saw the accused teenager fleeing the park. He was later caught. During questioning, he claimed that Vishal used to bully him. He then procured a pistol to kill him. He called Vishal to the park with the excuse to resolve their differences and shot him. The accused was sent to a juvenile home after being counselled.
