NEW DELHI: An 18-year old boy, Sahil, was found dead with his hands and legs tied at Deer Park in Northeast Delhi’s Seemapuri on Sunday morning. Police said his friend, Arshad, who ran a grocery store in the area, had borrowed Rs 50,000 from him and was unable to pay it back.
All through the search for Sahil, Arshad accompanied the police. Sahil left his home around midnight for a ride on a new scooter gifted to him by his mother.
Police said Sahil would usually step out for a ride at night, which was why his mother didn’t get worried initially.
On Sunday morning, policemen on patrol were informed about a man’s body lying in the park. The police found that the victim’s legs and hands were tied with a rope. They moved the body to a nearby hospital. Doctors said the youth’s throat was slit with a sharp weapon.
Amit Sharma, deputy commissioner of police, Shahdara, said: “A case of murder was registered and suspects rounded up. Arshad accompanied Sahil’s mother at all places we went looking for him. He had borrowed Rs 50,000 from Sahil sometime ago, but as his grocery shop was not doing well, he could not pay him back.”
Arshad went to meet Sahil on Saturday night. After an argument, Arshad slit his throat and also slashed his wrist. Sahil’s father had passed away a few years ago.
