Six cars damaged in pile-up near traffic signal in south Delhi

At least half-a-dozen cars were damaged in a accident near Maharani Bagh traffic signal on Wednesday morning. A woman received minor injuries in the crash, and the cars were severely damaged.

NEW DELHI: At least half-a-dozen cars were damaged in a accident near Maharani Bagh traffic signal on Wednesday morning. A woman received minor injuries in the crash, and the cars were severely damaged. The cops said that thecrash was the result of a driver of an app-based cab ramming a car in front of it. The driver was arrested and claims that his brakes had malfunctioned, which caused the accident.
The incident was reported around 10am.
The taxi driver told the police that a Maruti Swift travelling in front of him suddenly slowed down near the signal after a DTC bus in front stopped. The cab driver claimed that he was unable to control his vehicle and slammed on his brakes. However, instead, the taxi skid forward and hit the Swift. A woman travelling in the car was injured due to the impact.
Following this, other cars travelling behind the taxi started piling up. The taxi was rammed by a Toyota Innova, which was hit by another taxi. A Maruti Ignis and another taxi were also damaged. The incident led to a major chaos that led to a snarl stretching back to DND Flyway.
The vehicles were towed to New Friend’s Colony police station after the incident and a case of negligent driving and causing hurt due to negligence was registered.
