NEW DELHI: With a fresh spell of rain lashing the capital on Sunday, traffic snarls were reported from various areas. Delhi Traffic Police said vehicular traffic was affected primarily in south, central and west Delhi due to waterlogging, cave-ins and falling of trees.
A few of the major stretches affected by traffic jams included Najafgarh Drain to New Moti Nagar, Shaheed Jeet Singh Marg to Katwariya Sarai, Vedanta Mor to Adhchini, Rani Kheda to Mundka, Gurugram to Dhaula Kuan, Old Iron Bridge to Geeta Colony, Chhatarpur and Bhati Mines.

Traffic jams were witnessed on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Mathura Road and Sardar Patel Marg going towards Dhaula Kuan till late in the evening. Ring Road in front of WHO building, IP Estate was submerged in calf-deep water reducing the carriageway going towards Rajghat into a single-lane. A tree fell down on the stretch going from Oberoi hotel to Delhi zoo slowing down traffic.
At Vasant Kunj, a portion of the road near Sector-B caved in after the rain. Though no one was injured, the traffic flow was severely impacted. In south Delhi, traffic passing through MB Road and Devli village came to a halt as the road got submerged in water.
The situation was worse in west Delhi where a vehicle broke down after the rain and obstructed traffic on Punjabi Bagh flyover. People going from Britannia Chowk towards Raja Garden were stuck till the broken down car was removed.
A similar situation was witnessed on the newly-inaugurated RTR flyover where traffic slowed down after the showers. Cops said the traffic flow was already heavy due to the ongoing civic work on RTR, which worsened after the downpour.
