Gang that robbed 24X7 store in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj busted
The gang had committed seven robberies at 24X7 stores in NCR
NEW DELHI: A gang of armed robbers was busted for committing robbery at a 24X7 general store in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj on Wednesday night. They had looted Rs 13,000 from there.
A minute-long CCTV footage accessed by TOI shows three men entering the store at 4.30am on Wednesday. One of them wearing a blue jacket enters first and points a pistol at the employees at the counter. Two more armed men with their faces covered enter.
One of the robbers holds a staffer by the neck and shoves him in a corner. They browse through the store picking up items, while one of them takes cash from the counter. After they leave, the employees are seen taking stock of the lost items.
The store owners reported the incident to police and a case of robbery was registered at Vasant Kunj south police station. DCP (southwest) Devender Arya said that multiple teams were constituted to probe the case. On Saturday, they got a tip-off that the robbers would be coming to Aya Nagar in south Delhi and one Daud Khan was nabbed after a brief chase.
Khan said that Rohit alias Chotu was the kingpin and they had committed seven robberies at 24X7 stores in Delhi-NCR. They would recce the stores and analyse the security apparatus by entering as customers during the day. They would then strike at night.
