NEW DELHI: Almost a month after the sensational bank robbery in southwest Delhi’s Khaira village, the shooter who killed the cashier was arrested on Tuesday.
Pawan Pandey, who earlier worked as a delivery agent with an e-commerce company, was arrested when he returned to Delhi to get more money. Police said Pandey had an account in the bank which he targeted.
DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said multiple teams under supervision of ACPs Rajender Singh and Sunder Singh Yadav were trailing Pandey before nabbing him from Mitraon Najafgarh road.

During interrogation, he confessed to firing inside the bank during the robbery on October 12. All six men were under heavy influence of drugs at the time of the incident, police said.
Pandey, a resident of east Krishna Vihar colony in Najafgarh, claimed that after shooting the cashier, Santosh Sharma, he and his associates panicked and escaped with whatever they could lay hands on. He fled to Rajasthan and then moved to Gujarat, Maharashtra and Silvassa.
Cops said after he ran out of money, he returned to Delhi, following which a police team arrested him. Pandey is being touted as one of the main conspirators in the heist and had joined hands with Lagan Sharma, who is still absconding.
Sharma had assembled the men for the heist, and along with Pandey, decided to target the Corporation Bank after identifying the easy escape routes and lax security.
