Picture perfect on Karva Chauth: Men go for grooming sessions
Right from the time of engagement to their exotic honeymoon, young couples these days don’t waste time, when it comes to sharing pictures on social media. And first Karva Chauth is a big deal for couples and the pressure to look perfect in pictures is not only on women, but on their husbands too. Salons across NCR are witnessing a rush of appointments with newly-married men booking grooming sessions to look their best on Karva Chauth.
Many salons are even offering Karva Chauth-special packages for men.
40% increase in men booking salons before Karva Chauth
Salon owners in the NCR say that earlier, men would come for a quick trim on the day of Karva Chauth. But now they are booking in advance for facials, apart from regular styling and trimming. “Till last year, we had bookings on the day of Karva Chauth itself as several men would come in for a last-minute haircut and styling. This year, however, we have had nearly 30 bookings done a week in advance and people are still calling to take appointment for a complete grooming session,” says Saurabh Gupta, owner of a unisex salon in Sector 18, Noida.
“Last year, we had a few bookings two-three days before Karva Chauth for facial and beard styling. However, this year, there has been a 40% increase in men booking appointments before the festival. Our regular customers tell us that they need to look sharp for pictures that will be clicked on the day,” says Ashmeet Pahwa, owner of a men’s salon in Karol Bagh. Due to this increase in demand, some salons have even curated special Karva Chauth packages for men.
“We made the package just on a trial basis to see if there are any takers as there were some bookings last year for Karva Chauth. The response has been great and our salon has been booked all through the week preceding Karva Chauth,” says Ateek Haider, a hairstylist at a men’s salon in Punjabi Bagh.

‘My wife is a social media queen, I need to look my best’
Rohan Kapoor, a resident of Punjabi Bagh, who got married earlier this year, has booked an appointment at a grooming salon for Tuesday evening. “My wife has over 10,000 followers on Instagram. She posts all our pictures on social media, so I have to look good in all of them. For Karva Chauth, there is more pressure as she will be looking her best. I need to match up to her,” he says.

Pitampura resident Jasdeep Singh Kohli says, “It has been eight months since we got married, and we have been waiting for Karva Chauth to relive our wedding day by getting all dressed up. I had to get a salon appointment, too, as my wife posts tons of pictures on social media, and I have to look my best in all of them. Nayi shaadi hai, abhi pictures post nahi karenge toh kab karenge?”
‘I have booked an appointment for my husband’
“I have booked an appointment for my husband, which includes facial, bleach and hair colour, so that he looks suave on Karva Chauth. I will be posting our pictures on social media and I don’t want to hog all the compliments,” says Ekta Gupta Mehta, a resident of East of Kailash, who got married recently.
