Leena Singh

Mughal inspiration
Ashima-Leena's collection Khwabeeda was an ode to royalty, as Leena Singh presented her line of saris, dramatic blouses, short kurtis, palazzos, ghagras and cholis on Day 2 of the Delhi Times Fashion Week held at Roseate House, Aerocity. "Khwabeeda is all about being classy. I have been working on this show for the past eight months. We have used a lot of weaves and all of them were developed by me," said Leena. She further explained what went into designing the garments. "Khwabeeda is a woman who beholds the dream of becoming who she is today. The collection revives ancient visual expressions and explores contemporary forms while retaining indigenous craftsmanship."

Redefining classics
Krishna Mehta's line took inspiration from celebrated Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, and had models flaunting unibrows, crown braids and floral headbands. "Frida Kahlo was my inspiration behind the collection. I have used a lot of woven fabric. I love to play with different textiles and juxtapose one against the other. It’s my signature style." Vartika Singh, Miss Grand International 2015 Second Runner-up, was the showstopper for the show. She said, "This collection is understated and yet stands out. This dress gave me confidence and I feel, it's tailor-made for me."

Joy Mitra

Light and bright
It was raining in Delhi when Joy Mitra showcased his collection, Monsoon Wedding, at DTFW. Models walked the ramp in lehengas with patch pockets, short kurtis with shararas, layered anarkalis, pleated skirts and dhoti drapes. "It's an all-festive collection. I have used a lot of colours, but no colour is clashing with the other. They are all blending well together. I have used Chanderi silk, some georgette, dupion silk and chiffon," Joy said.
Arti-Talwar

Festive splendour
Mehraab by Arun Ahuja, Arti Talwar, Anu Seth, and John Marya showcased Sensual Saga at DTFW. The collection had an array of rich fabrics such as satin, silk, velvet, georgette and crepe, brought to life using antique embroideries like zardosi, Parsi and kani. Arun Ahuja said, "With this festive collection, we wanted to showcase the versatility of traditional Indian wear. We wish to take Indian royal wear beyond boundaries and see people embracing it everywhere with pride." John Marya added, "It is a very Victorian collection with a Persian touch to it. It caters to all your couture requirements."
Bharat-&-reshma-Grover
