NEW DELHI: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to extend the last date of payment of advance property tax from June 30 to July 31. The north corporation, too, extended the deadline till July 15.
The decision was taken after glitches were reported on the SDMC website, thereby affecting its overall operation.
South corporation's mayor Sunita Kangra said, "I got to know about some problems on the SDMC website, due to which it was not operating properly.
Also, there was a sudden increase in the number of people submitting taxes online in this week. This too, slowed down the operation of the website. For the convenience of property tax payers, it has been decided to extend the last date of payment by another month."
Now, all property tax offices, which were earlier instructed to remain open on June 30, would remain closed due to extension of the date.
Chairman of standing committee, north corporation, Jai Prakash said a number of representatives of market associations and RWAs met him with the request to extend the last date.
