NEW DELHI: South Delhi Municipal Corporation has put the appointment of over 850 freshly-recruited primary teachers on "abeyance" till further orders. The order, issued by the assistant director of education, states that all the appointment letters issued to the candidates for joining schools from Tuesday stand cancelled.
SDMC was recruiting 900 teachers, out of which 850 appointment letters had been issued.
A senior SDMC official said that 4,000 teachers are being recruited across the three municipal corporations. "The cancellation order has been issued based on a Central Administrative Tribunal order regarding Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) exam," the official added.
"We are awaiting the details of the order from DSSSB," said Varsha Joshi, North Delhi Municipal Corporation commissioner. "Meanwhile, our appointment list was uploaded on our website on Monday afternoon".
