NEW DELHI: Two criminals, who were a part of the notorious Lokesh alias Surya gang, were injured in an encounter with the Special Cell in west Delhi's Vikaspuri on Saturday evening. The accused - Rahul and Deepak - had opened fire at a police team when they were intercepted. The men were shot on their legs in the retaliatory fire by the cops. Two bullets fired by the criminals hit the bullet-proof vests worn by the policemen.

The incident took place around 8.30pm when cops intercepted a white car near a canal on the Ring Road near Vikaspuri. The cops asked the occupants to stop, but they tried to run away. The road was, however, blocked with barricades and the men couldn't flee.
As the officers tried approaching the vehicle, the men opened fire at them.
