Delhi: Wife, her lover hired juvenile to bump off man

NEW DELHI: Police solved the murder case of a man at the servants quarter of a bungalow in South Avenue, with the arrest of the victim’s wife and her paramour. A juvenile was also apprehended who was hired to kill Suresh Kumar.
The woman, Anju (34), told police that Kumar — who was 16 years older than her — used to fight with her after she developed intimacy with a relative. Kumar was also addicted to gambling and would often thrash her for refusing to serve food to his friends.So, she decided to eliminate him and gave money to her lover, Shivam (21), to arrange the murder.
DCP (New Delhi) Madhur Verma said that during investigation the role of Anju came under scanner since witnesses had reported that just before the murder they saw two masked men near the house. During this time Anju left the house along with her children for an evening walk. It was also found that Anju was in touch with someone in Meerut and spoke to the person for a long time during the day.
“Several friends and family members were interrogated and multiple teams were formed to conduct simultaneous raids at all possible locations of Shivam, who was finally found in Burari at a relative’s house,” said Verma.
Anju said that many people came to her house to gamble with her husband and she was forced to serve them food all the time. She told officers that a few months ago, she had even tried to commit suicide after a tiff with Suresh.
Shivam had roped in his friend, who introduced him to the juvenile. On the day of the incident, the juvenile and Shivam’s friend entered Suresh’s room while he was sleeping and slit his throat with a knife.
