Delhi: Youth clashes with cops who tried to challan him

The video of a youth heckling a group of traffic policemen after being flagged down for riding without a helmet in Netaji Subhash Place of northwest Delhi has gone viral on social media. The cops are also seen pushing him after which he kicks their bike. The youth has been arrested for assaulting a police officer.

NEW DELHI: The video of a youth heckling a group of traffic policemen after being flagged down for riding without a helmet in Netaji Subhash Place of northwest Delhi has gone viral on social media. The cops are also seen pushing him after which he kicks their bike. The youth has been arrested for assaulting a police officer.
The biker, Dalip Kumar, accused the police officers of demanding Rs 1,000 for letting him off.
The five-minute clip shows the traffic cops trying to control the youth, who is seen getting in a scuffle with them asking who gave them the permission to stop him.
The ruckus began when Kumar slipped off his bike near the traffic cops. When they tried to challan him, he started hurling abuses at them. Later, the cops gave a written complaint at Netaji Subhash Place police station against the youth, who is a resident of Shakurpur Basti.
Police said they tried to calm Kumar down, but he grew violent when they removed the bike’s keys. Some youths were heard in the video asking the traffic cops to challan him. When Kumar got violent, the same youths were seen provoking him to clash with the policemen.
In their complaint, the cops said that Kumar tried to tear their uniform and damaged their bike. A case of obstructing a government servant from conducting his duty has been registered against him. It was found that he was returning from a liquor shop. A probe is on to find out if he was drunk during the incident.
