NEW DELHI: A youth working at a call centre was bludgeoned to death by his cousin during an argument over withdrawing money from his card without permission. The two youths from Manipur lived at a rented house near southeast Delhi’s Sunlight Colony. The accused is absconding.
The incident was reported around 5.30am when cops at Sunlight Colony police station were informed about a fight at Bhagwan Nagar. When they reached, they found bloodstains in the room.
The victim, Suihami Khangah, was taken to AIIMS for treatment. Khangah had severe head injuries caused by a rod and died during treatment.
DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said that it was found that the deceased, his brother AS Shunreiwung and his cousin, Lei Shingham, lived in the same rented flat. All of them were working at call centres in Noida and Gurgaon.
Initial probe revealed that Khangah returned home and found that Shingham had withdrawn money from his account without his permission. Khangah had left his ATM card with Shingham. Khangah allegedly woke him up and demanded that he return the money immediately.
This led to an argument during which Shingham attacked him with a rod and hit him on his head and face. Hearing them fight, Shunreiwung tried to intervene due to which he too got injured. Seeing Khangah bleed, Shingham left the house. A case of murder has been registered.
