Eight students take ill in South Goa school

Eight students from a school in Carmona in Salcete took ill on Monday and had to be rushed to Hospicio in Margao. They were discharged after treatment.

COLVA: Eight students from a school in Carmona in Salcete took ill on Monday and had to be rushed to Hospicio in Margao. They were discharged after treatment.
According to school sources, the incident occurred during assembly, around 7.55am. The students felt dizzy and collapsed.
School authorities immediately called local doctors, who checked the students and found that their pressure and pulse was normal.
However, as a precaution, they were shifted to Hospicio. A 108 ambulance was called.
One of the students had brought water from the well at home, which all the affected students had drunk before taking ill, sources said.
However, the police said that it is a case of dehydration and heat stroke and not of poisoning.
The water has been sent for testing and the report is awaited.
