MARGAO: Women and child rights activist Auda Viegas on Monday took exception to demands made by some Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress members that the police drop cases filed against them, including their president Pratima Coutinho, under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in a case pertaining to molestation of a child a few months ago.
A delegation of Mahila Congress and Youth Congress workers had recently met the DGP and appealed to him to review the case.
Viegas said the law will take its course in the case, the chargesheet of which has already been filed in the court.
Mahila Congress workers had visited the house of the victim, following which a photograph appeared in the media. "Is Mahila Congress an NGO? Why are they taking a role which doesn't belong to them," Viegas said.
