Air Force recruitment rally to be held on March 25

PANAJI: The Indian Air Force is set to conduct the airmen recruitment rally in Goa on March 25 at the Bambolim athletic stadium. The rally is meant for youth who have completed their higher secondary school certificate exam with 50% and above.
Eligible youth who were born between June 1999 and January 2003 can appear for the physical and written test, after which a psychological test will be conducted, said wing commander, Indian Air Force, Fernando D Costa.

“Serving in the Air Force is larger than life and you get social status, respect, and the esteem of your countrymen. I would urge Goan youth who have completed class XII to apply,” D’Costa said.
He said that selected candidates would be sent to the airbase at Belagavi, where they would undergo basic physical training.
To qualify, aspirants will have to run 1.6km in 6.5 minutes, after which they will do 10 pushups, 10 situps and 20 squats. Those who complete the physical test can answer the written exam and after that a psychological test and group discussion.
“When they begin basic training, the youth get a stipend of Rs 14,500 per month,” said D’Costa. “Once you actually get enrolled, the basic salary is Rs 21,700 plus military service pay of Rs 6,000, so a young kid who has just passed Class XII gets Rs 32,000-35,000. Over and above, there are benefits whether it is medical cover, ration, housing, education or clothing, everything is taken care of by the Indian Air Force.”
