PANAJI: After receiving complaints about renewed mud-filling activity, the flying squad inspected the site of the ‘Mini India’ park in the khazan land at Quelossim, on Sunday afternoon.
Activity of dumping and levelling of mud at the site was noticed on May 13.
“Despite a stop-work notice and a show-cause notice being issued by the Quelossim panchayat, many workers could be seen continuing their work inside the site,” said Lopinho Xavier, chairman of the biodiversity management committee (BMC), Quelossim panchayat.
He further demanded the removal of the mud at the site.
After the inspection, officials instructed the site supervisor to stop any activity. The project promoter has also been asked to produce relevant documents.
Quelossim sarpanch Maria D’Souza, deputy sarpanch Sebastiao Ferrao, BMC member Vincent Pereira and the complainant, Xavier, were present.
In March 2018, the high court of Bombay at Goa had disposed of a public interest litigation against the setting up of a eco-recreational floating platform for the project, as authorities had withdrawn approvals granted to it earlier.
