PANAJI: Porvorim police on Friday rescued four girls from a prostitution racket being operated along the state’s coastal belt. Two pimps were also arrested. The girls hail from Mumbai, Delhi and West Bengal.
Police said they laid a trap after receiving information that a prostitution racket was being run along the coastal belt, wherein customers were contacted over the phone. Accordingly, a decoy customer was asked to call a pimp.

Following negotiations, the pimp agreed to deliver the girls to a hotel in Pilerne.
Police said the pimps were arrested as soon as they arrived at the hotel with the girls, and claimed that the pimps had been virtually living off of the prostitution racket. Further investigation is in progress.
