PANAJI: The Goa Automobile Dealers’ Association (GADA) on Wednesday welcomed the government’s decision of reduction in road tax for new vehicles purchased till December 2019, calling it a 'bold move by the Goa government.'
The Goa cabinet on Wednesday approved to cut down road tax by 50% on all types of new vehicles till December 31. This includes two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial and non-commercial vehicles etc.
In a view of the nationwide drastic drop in the sale of automobiles, transport minister Mauvin Godinho had said in September that there would reduction in road tax on new vehicles purchased in the next three months.
The decrease in Goa’s automobile sales is estimated to be around 25-30% compared to the last financial year.
